Handfuls of Purpose helps families care for their children with special needs. Having a child with disabilities often means leaving the workplace to care for the child and can cause substantial burden financially. Ukraine has been slow to move from their Soviet legacy of disregard and neglect for those considered "imperfect". Even while the government has expressed a desire to see improvements in the care of disabled children, the overall poverty of the country coupled with deep-seated prejudice contines to make education and accessibility very difficult for these families.



        The Handfuls of Purpose program provides suplemental food, clothing, medicines and often diapers, which are extremely expensive. Along with material provision, the families receive the true Bread of Life at weekly MTU Bible studies for mothers and group activities for children with special needs.
